Galatea Cottage

Galatea Cottage is one of the two holiday cottages at Whitby Lighthouse on the East Coast of England, just outside Whitby and close to the North Yorkshire Moors. Being so close to the High Cliffs of North Yorkshire, visitors can base themselves at the cottage for a relaxing and tranquil Yorkshire based holiday with stunning views of the coast. Whitby Lighthouse opened in 1858 and became automated in 1995. This freed up the lighthouse cottages that now provide visitors with unique holiday experiences. Set atop the cliff side the views are amazing, and guests have the East Yorkshire Coast right on their doorstep. This coast has a number of High Cliffs with many small ports. The most well known of these is Whitby, which is very close to the cottage, home to the ruins of St. Hilda’s Abbey, which is set on the East Cliffs.

The cottage has three bedrooms, one bathroom, and one shower room, sleeping a maximum of five guests. There is an enclosed garden and raised decked area so guests can enjoy outdoor meals in warmer months with stunning views. There is parking available onsite and the cottage has a no pets policy. The minimum stay is two nights. The cottage is fully equipped with a washing machine and dryer, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave, TV, DVD player, electric hob and oven, Electric effect wood burner, and a payphone. Travel cots and high chairs for children are also available and there is garden furniture for guests to use. The cottage is very close to many beaches, with Whitby, Sandsend, and Robin Hood’s Bay all very close by. The Yorkshire Esk River is also close by and is famous for being the only salmon river between London and the tees. Guests can also go mountain biking at Dalby Forest.
