Lighthouse summary
Sally Port Cottage is a cottage located at St. Anthony’s Lighthouse found on the Roseland Peninsula not far from Truro, Cornwall. Guests visiting the cottage will find stunning views, privacy, and the perfect opportunity to have a relaxing yet unique Cornish holiday.
Sally Port Cottage is the only holiday cottage at the site and is situated via a 300-metre steep tarmac path. Guests must park their cars at the National Trust car park on the headland above and then make their way down to the cottage via this path. The cottage was made famous as it was used a location for Fraggle Rock, the children’s TV programme.
Lighthouse description
The cottage has no public access and so offers a great deal of privacy. There is a large observation room with a large picture window, perfect for taking in the breath taking views. There is an electric wood effect stove that makes the cottage very snug during colder months. There is also a suntrap patio area with garden furniture.
The cottage is made up of two bedrooms, one en-suite shower room, and one bathroom, and sleeps four guests with a minimum stay of two nights. Unfortunately, no pets are allowed at the cottage. The lighthouse is an active automated lighthouse, with a fog signal. Guests are provided with earplugs for when this is operated. Children over 14 are allowed and unfortunately, babies cannot be accommodated.
The cottage is fully equipped with a washing machine and dryer, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave, TV, DVD player, electric cooker, electric effect wood burner, and a payphone.
Whilst staying at the cottage guests can visit the Eden project or the Lost Gardens of Heligan. During peak season there is a boat ferry for guests that can take them between St. Mawes and Falmouth. St. Mawes has a great tearoom at the Tresanton Hotel. The surrounding areas around the cottage are all National Trust land making for some fantastic walks, and spectacular bird watching. Ten minutes’ walk away there is a bird hide where guests can spot peregrine falcons nest as well with many other coastal birds.
