Lighthouse summary

Stella Cottage is one of two cottages based at Nash Point Lighthouse on the Welsh Glamorgan Heritage Coast. There are many blue flag beaches nearby, some well known for being great windsurfing locations, making this a perfect cottage for enjoying a Welsh beach holiday. Nash Point Lighthouse was built in 1832 and is now a historic grade II listed building and holds the record for being the last manned lighthouse in Wales. The lighthouse and cottages are located very close to many very beautiful beaches including Ogmore-by-Sea, Barry Island, Porthcawl, and Southerndown. A small town, Cowbridge, is a short drive away of around 8 miles. This town has a good number or shops, small boutiques, excellent pubs and restaurants, craft shops and art galleries. The Museum of Welsh Life is a 20-minute drive away at St. Fagans, and the nearby St. Donats Art Centre has a cinema as well as many exhibitions, music, theatre, dance, and children events.

Lighthouse description

The cottage has three bedrooms and one bathroom, sleeping a maximum of five guests. The minimum stay is for two nights. The cottage is fully equipped with a washing machine and dryer, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, TV, DVD player, microwave, electric cooker, electric wood burner, and a payphone. Travel cots and high chairs for children are also available and there is garden furniture to enjoy the lovely garden. There is onsite parking and a fully enclosed garden. There is no foghorn at this lighthouse and guests are allowed to bring one well-behaved dog. The cottages are very close to some wonderful beaches. A bit further away is the famous Gower peninsula, which was one of the first places in the UK to be designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The lighthouse is open to visitors from April until September.

Fantastic housekeeping by Paul and Marina. High spec cleaning, lovely hamper and nice personal phone call during our first evening.

    Recommended to everyone

We had a splendid mini break (2nights ) at the lighhouse cottage Stella. It was a very cosy place with everything we needed provided. The cottage keeper was very helpful, caring and friendly, he even made a phone call to make sure we're happy. Our two sons (4 and 9) absolutely loved the place. There is a magical little pub in Marcross with excellent food. I would highly recommend Stella to everyone.
