Lighthouse summary

Nash Point Lighthouse was built in 1832 on the Welsh Glamorgan Heritage Coast and is now a historic grade II listed building and holds the record for being the last manned lighthouse in Wales.  Ariel Cottage is one of two cottages based at Nash Point Lighthouse. The lighthouse and cottages are located very close to many very beautiful beaches including Ogmore-by-Sea, Barry Island, Porthcawl, and Southerndown. Some are well known for being great windsurfing locations, making this a perfect cottage for enjoying a Welsh beach holiday. A small town, Cowbridge, is a short drive away of around 8 miles. This town has a good number or shops, small boutiques, excellent pubs and restaurants, craft shops and art galleries. The Museum of Welsh Life is a 20-minute drive away at St. Fagans, and the nearby St. Donats Art Centre has a cinema as well as many exhibitions, music, theatre, dance, and children events.

Lighthouse description

The cottage has three bedrooms and one bathroom, sleeping a maximum of five guests. The minimum stay is for two nights. There is onsite parking and a fully enclosed garden. There is no foghorn at this lighthouse and pets are not allowed. The cottage is fully equipped with a washing machine and dryer, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, TV, DVD player, microwave, electric cooker, electric wood burner, and a payphone. Travel cots and high chairs for children are also available and there is garden furniture to enjoy the lovely garden. The cottage is very close to some wonderful beaches. A bit further away is the famous Gower peninsula, which was one of the first places in the UK to be designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The lighthouse is open to visitors from April until September.

    Lovely people. Lovely place.

Lovely weekend, just not long enough to to do all we wanted. Going up the lighthouse was very interesting & when Chris sounded the horn, it made us all jump! Lovely people & a lovely place. Hope to be back sometime! P & H Families, Pulborough.

    Overall Happy

Cottage was lovely and nicely set up but we were late leaving - in genuine error on our part - and there was a certain lack of courtesy which was a shame and rather spoilt what had been a lovely stay otherwise. We were also told we were 'lucky' the lavatory had not become blocked. We have booked again so we hope this is not a usual problem as seemed to be suggested.

    Recommended highly

potless, well appointed, wonderfully warm, comfortable, marvellous welcome basket. The housekeeper does a great job - I can't recommend it more highly.
