For years, Shark Peninsula on Lüderitz, has always attracted tourists from all corners of the world due to its beautiful scenery and rich history. Due to this, various campsites have sprouted all over the place and the most pleasant of them perhaps is the Lighthouse.

This lighthouse lies atop a small hill in the middle of a short expanse of desert. Its position enables it to afford great views of the coastline and beyond. Also, it allows refreshing ocean breezes to come through it day and night, making the whole cottage a wonderful place wherein to hang around and simply enjoy the moment.

The lighthouse at may be a little old but it is maintained daily and is spotlessly clean. And though it may seem quite simple from the outside, it has all the necessary facilities to afford guests a relaxing stay that is free of hassles. It has a living room with a television set, two bedrooms with two beds each, two bathrooms with working showers and toilets, and a kitchen complete with cutlery, plates, a kettle, and a refrigerator. Also, there is a built-in fireplace in the area for barbeques, a washing-up facility for doing dishes, and a laundry area. And there are no problems with electricity here since it has access to a 220V power point all day long. With regards to security, too, there is a security guard patrolling the ground 24 hours a day to ensure everyone’s safety within the premises.

How to get there

The nearest airport to is the one in Lüderitz so to get there, head southwest from the airport and turn left and then right onto the B4. After so, continue straight on the Bay Road, take a slight right to Bismarck Street, and a left to Hafen Street. From there, turn right onto Insel and continue onto Kreplin until you see your destination on the right.

About the area

can be found on the Shark Peninsula off the town of Lüderitz. Its terrain is quite rugged, full of rock surfaces and patches of desert. Nevertheless, it has plenty of great spots from which to view the Atlantic Ocean and the landscape that surrounds it. 

There are a multitude of things that can be done while in the area, starting off with the sightseeing tour to the Kolmanskop Ghost Town which gives visitors a peek into the lives of diamond miners in the past.

Also, there is the Zeepard Boat Tour that allows people to get up close and personal to various marine animals such as dolphins, seals, penguins, and many more.

Then there is the Namib Offroad Excursions which features dune driving and overnight camping — two experiences that anyone coming to must try out.
