The lighthouse of Llandudno

The Lighthouse in Llandudno, Wales, was constructed in 1862 and was used until March 22nd 1985, helping many mariners find their way. Now everyone can enjoy the wonderful building from the inside, with its Victorian styled rooms from where you can take in the beautiful views of the impressive coastline of Wales.

The Lighthouse is situated within the Great Orme Country Park, enabling guests to walk in a peaceful environment with magnificent scenery and wildlife on display. The Lighthouse is located just over two miles from the centre of the historic Victorian seaside resort of Llandudno, allowing easy access to numerous pubs and restaurants, the 1500 seats of the North Wales Theatre, and some of the best shopping facilities in North Wales.

However, if guests are feeling slightly more energetic then there are facilities for golf, tennis, bowls, windsurfing, sailing, skiing, sea or freshwater fishing and pony trekking within a few miles.Medieval Conwy, a world heritage centre, is only seven miles away and guests can visit its famous castle, Plas Mawr (a lovingly restored Elizabethan townhouse), and also walk the town's ancient walls.

The Lighthouse of Llandudno offers three beautifully decorated suites. There's the Principal Keeper's Suite which is a four-poster victorian style bedroom/family room and the largest of all suites. It has a sitting room, which has the benefit of space for a single bed if required. The configuration of this suite makes this room not only suitable for a couple but also a number of guests travelling together. The room has an en suite shower room and offers impressive coastline and sea views to the East.

The Telegraph Room is is a double bedded, en suite, and contains the original pitch pine shutters together with the portholes that were used for telescopes. The room is ideal for couples, having a cosy sitting area with the original Welsh black slate fireplace. Located directly above the Lamp Room it benefits from the same spectacular 280 degree sea views from all around the bedroom. It also offers the opportunity for an accompanied visit to the roof of the Lighthouse, via the original ladder, where these views can be fully appreciated.

Then, last but not least, The Lamp Room is a double bedded room ideal for couples, with convenient en suite shower room facilities. The original glass panelled Victorian lamp room housed the optic, but now gives guests sitting room with panoramic sea views through some 280 degrees East to West.

Then there's also the Keeper's Hall. This has a unique 6m (19ft) pitch pine panelling and gallery, built merely to allow privacy between the two keepers and their families. Breakfast is taken in the North facing Victorian dining room, which allows guests to look down over a 100m (360ft) vertical drop whilst enjoying the traditional Welsh breakfast for which the Lighthouse is widely renowned.
